Ricky Williams Ready To Leave The Dolphins

Have you ever been at a job where you feel like they are stifling your success? There are many of us that have felt this way. When it comes to football teams this can be even stronger. Ricky Williams told a local radio station Monday that he believes it’s time for him to leave Miami.

Ricky Williams is known for his wanderlust. He calls the Dolphins a part of a phase that he has went through and said that it may just be time to move on. While he was sharing his feeling he decided to take some whacks at head coach Tony Sparano. It looks like Ricky Williams is really burning his bridges.

The contract with Miami is up so it’s really not a big deal but he is 34 which is a little old for a runningback. I am afraid to say that I believe this guy is going to have to relive the glory days because they are about gone. One of the most memorable times for him was when he won the 1998 Heisman trophy for most outstanding player in college football. We say good luck to you Ricky Williams.

East- West Shrine Game Preview

While the College football season is officially over that doesn’t mean we don’t have the opportunity to watch some of our favorite players again.  Today we get a chance to watch the East- West Shrine game where NFL Draft hopefuls are working to improve their draft stock.  The game can be seen on the NFL Network starting at 3:30 eastern time.  I for one love these games as it gives us an opportunity to get a look at prospects against different talent level.  It also asks players to do things out of their comfort level, especially the quarterbacks.  For example this week quarterback Pat Devlin of Delaware had to take snaps from under center which is something he rarely did while in college.  So if your a college football fan and NFL Draft enthusiast then set some time aside this weekend to watch this football game.

I will be keeping my eye on several prospects which I listed below.

Pat Devlin- the quarterback is taking a step up in competition and is also adjusting to the more pro style offensive being employed.  This game provides Devlin with an opportunity to answer some of the questions surrounding his game.  The talk of the week has been of Devlin’s struggles but I am going to hold off judgement until I see him perform in the game.

Marvin Austin- Austin is coming off a season where he didnt see the field due to a suspension.  Prior to the season Austin was in the top 10 of many big boards but the character concerns coupled of a wasted year dropped his stock.  I have heard that Austin had a great week of practice and has scouts feeling that he could make a surge up draft boards.

Chris Hairston- I am a fan of Hairston and feel that he has a bright future in the NFL.  He is a big kid with good balance and skills.  This game should help get his name on the the map.

Terrell McClain- The South Florida defensive tackle has turned in a very good week of practice and could really be a guy teams fall in love with come April.  I am really excited to get a better look at him this weekend.

East-West Shrine Game Features

It's college football all-star game season, and each major game features a handful of local conference players.

The 2011 East-West Shrine Game isn’t loaded with first-round talent, but there are several players the Atlanta Falcons fan should keep an eye on. None of these players are likely to be very highly drafted, but IT’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL ON A SATURDAY and it is precious.

The Falcons have been trying to fix their defensive backfield for three years now. It’s made big strides, with William Moore and Brent Grimes having mini-breakout years after an excellent 2009 by Thomas DeCoud, plus Dunta Robinson’s decent year in solo coverage, but the Green Bay Packers exposed the team’s lack of cornerback depth.

Yellowstone National Park: Bison allowed north of US national park

A group of bison allowed to migrate north of Yellowstone National Park for the first time in decades have strayed from their new grazing grounds three times since their arrival this week.

Park officials said Friday they will haze the animals back onto the Gallatin National Forest for now. It is uncertain what will happen if they continue to enter areas where they might encounter cattle.

Many bison carry brucellosis, a disease that can infect cattle and cause the animals to prematurely abort their young.

The 25 bison on the Gallatin are part of a pilot program years in the making and have tested negative for the disease.

Another 63 bison that tried to leave the park are being held in a capture facility. Those animals could be returned to the park or possibly sent to slaughter.
